Experienced Educator, Proven Leader, Advocate for Our Children

About Carol

Carol is a parent, teacher, and advocate who has been working in education for over 20 years.  As a teacher in Stafford County Public Schools since 1996, Carol taught special education and mathematics at the middle and high school levels, including 8 years as a mathematics teacher at Dixon-Smith Middle School in South Stafford.

Medawar for School BoardCarol has also served on numerous advisory committees including Stafford County Public Schools’ advisory committees on Finance and Budget, Career and Technical Education, and Capital Improvement Planning, as well as the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet Work Group on School Safety.

A passionate advocate for educators and our children, Carol has served as a member of various Parent Teacher Organizations, the Stafford Education Association, the Virginia Education Association, and the National Education Association.  In fact, it was during her service as treasurer of the SEA that Carol became interested in policy work. 

Carol holds a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University and a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology from George Mason University.  She is currently working on her PhD in Curriculum, Culture, and Change at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. 

Carol lives in George Washington District in Stafford County, Virginia with her husband a law enforcement officer in Prince William County.  They have six children.
